Wallasey... Wirral, Cheshire, England....

The Danhers

Our descendants originated from Limerick City  County Limerick Ireland, post famine they ended up in Middlesbrough, through N.I. and Scotland, but there they met my great great grandparents John and Jane Danher, pictured in the family photo , then they married in Stockton and started having kids in Middlesbrough, where John was a miner/blacksmith and Jane a baptist minister's daughter and Tailor's daughter. They would both have 16 kids, most of the rest born in Liverpool, when the family moved there shortly after the birth of their 3rd son Thomas. In Liverpool the family prospered with Chandler shops, all over the city, the main one on 98 Aigburth road, but once John and Jane ready to retire , they moved away, across the Mersey to village of Wallasey, where John and sons became builders and they actually lived and retired in a bank of townhomes they built at number 58 Leasowe Road, in the Wallasey. Here some photos and pictures of the town, over time , home of the Cheshire Cheese.

These are the houses that John Danher built on Leasowe Road.
you see the railway bridge in distance, number 58 Leasowe road would be halfway down this road on the right side, halfway to the rail station Wallasey Village.

the 5th Beatle.... Stuart Sutcliffe

Stuart Sutcliffe was the 5th Beatle.. then again some would say Pete Best was... anyhow, the unfortuate fate of Stuart with his head injury due to a incident earlier caused his early death and his grave is shown here in Huyton, with his gravestone...

The Mohins

The Mohins

The Mohins, actually Mohan before the other spelling, Moan before them both, as the Moans were from County Monaghan and not far from Castle Leslie... it was our Mary Theresa Danher who was my great aunt who married the maternal grandfather of Sir Paul, Owen Mohin, and had 4 kids, the last one dying soon after birth along with our Mary. The other children were Wilf , Bill and Mary , paul's mom. Mohins were our 1st cousins to our Danhers in Liverpool and they were the paternal ...side of the Mohin family, we the Danhers were the Maternal side. Owen Mohin did remarry afterwards to Rose and Rose became Mary's stepmom and they would not have a very close relationship and Mary moved to Liverpool to stay with Danher Aunts. Then war broke out and Mary met Jim McCartney. Owen Mohin purchased the grave for the McCartney women, My great aunt Mary Theresa and my cousin Mary Patricia in Yew Tree Cemetery in Roby Liverpool, from what I know it has been written he is not in that grave, his death and burial unknown... sad. The Mohins were our closest relatives in the Pool and I remember my gran on her visit to the Pool always having a great time at Paul's uncle Wilf's pub called the Eagle Pub on Paradise street which is now I think a Sony store, it was the U.S. Embassy once in the Pool.. ahhh memories

Danher Fosters.... a must read http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~akerr/Kerrs/pages/maternalgrands.htm

Danher/Fosters/Welfords/Kerrs....

One of my Danher families, Cecily Jane Danher, my great granddad's sister married Ralph Foster and they had 3 chandler shops in Liverpool, rags to riches and riches to rags story...but not fully all rags in the 3 generations of this family,... as they exemplified what it means to give back and being the charitable human being that you can be at your most... see... the family was started by the marriage of Ralph Foster and Cis Danher, and they had 2 Daughters, Mary and Jenny depicted in pics, there is Mary getting married to John Leslie Kerr, who my own gran was close to... and Mary Welford Foster became Mrs. John Kerr... they had 3 kids, 2 boys and girl, Audrey who is still residing in Winnipeg and actually a professor at the UofM.... the best part of this family was that they lived in an area close to the poor areas of Winnipeg and through their fraternity and church, John and Mary Kerr made sure that every child that went without at Christmas time got a prezzie... now is that not the greatest... the gigantic hearts of relations of mine, who knew how to do best after losing their own family fortunes and emigrated to Winnipeg and had to rebuild and give back... so proud of the Fosters/Welfords/Kerrs....now that is what is giving back is suppose to be and they did it with class!
